We attended Cycling Scotland's conference today. It was a great opportunity to meet people from across the support agencies. Also to hear interesting presentations on a wide range of projects. It's amazing what has
been achieved in Paris through a 250mill euro investment plan... bike journeys now exceed car journeys within the city!
Fiona Hyslop MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, shared the Scottish Government's ambition, priorities and new funding model. "Cycling represents freedom, a way of improving our communities, clear air, safer streets for everyone and has a vital role in tackling the climate emergency".
The Cabinet Secretary announced £10mill of new funding, although she acknowledged that the active and sustainable travel budgets will not see the increased investment intended in 2024/25. And the Active Travel Infrastructure Fund is still in a holding position (so we need to wait to hear the outcome of Killearn's funding applications)
